Gum (Periodontal) Treatment
Throughout its early stages periodontal disease is known as gingivitis and is a reversible condition. Gingivitis is cause by a plaque build-up around your tooth and gum line, which then begins to attack supporting tissues. Symptoms can include a sour taste in the mouth, bad breath, red or swollen gums and bleeding from the gum line. If left untreated, gingivitis can advance into periodontitus as bacteria delves deeper into the gums and attacks surrounding ligaments and bone. This later stage cannot be reversed, however it can be effectively treated to stop and spreading.
Periodontitus is the most prominent cause of tooth loss among adults[1]. Gum disease is extremely common and almost everyone experiences it at some stage throughout their lifetime. The most effective way to combat periodontal disease is through an effective oral hygiene routine and system of regular check-ups so we can stop it before it starts.
If you are experience any of these symptoms, are concerned about your gums or just to arrange a check our friendly team to arrange a consultation.

Endodontic Treatment
The best course of treatment for a severely infected tooth has previously been its extraction. Newtown Dental Care believes it to be more beneficial for you to retain your original tooth, opposed to an artificial one. Endodontic or root canal treatment is way to salvage these severely infected teeth to keep your natural, quality smile.
Infection usually occurs at the ‘pulp’ of the tooth where the nerve tissues and blood vessels which are needed for the tooth’s sustenance and development are found. Infection here is notoriously painful and often requires efficient treatment and depending on the severity of the case, options may vary.
Firstly, the infect pulp is removed and the root is cleaned and sterilised. To prevent any further infection or discomfort it is then sealed with a white willing that is tailored to match your existing tooth colour to leave your smile looking seamless and natural. Our dedicated team recommends some follow up consultations to ensure that you teeth heal correctly and without complication. In the majority of cases the tooth retains full functionality, is durable and aesthetically pleasing. However, if required a crown can be fitted over the tooth to enhance its strength and appearance.
If you’re experiencing any pain or discomfort contact our caring team today to arrange an appointment with an experienced dentist.
White Fillings
Composite or ‘white’ fillings provide durable, strong and natural restorations to your teeth. Surpassing their amalgam predecessors, white fillings can be tailored to perfectly match your existing tooth colour.
At Newtown Dental Care we also replace amalgam fillings with composite ones as amalgam can distort in temperature changes and exert unwanted pressure on your teeth.
If you require a filling or wish to replace any existing amalgam fillings contact our friendly team to arrange a consultation.
Teeth Whitening
Simple, effective and easy to complete, teeth whitening is a common cosmetic dental treatment that can lighten the colour of your teeth up to eight shades.
The natural colour of our teeth can vary greatly, and food and drinks such as beetroot, soy sauce, coffee, alcohol and smoking all pose constant challenges to our tooths brightness. Through relatively inexpensive treatments, tooth whitening is a quick, easy solution to these challenges.
At Newtown Dental Care we have a specialist whitening kit which you can take home and complete in your own time over a two week period. First we will fit you with trays for your upper and lower jaw which you then just fill with the whitening solution and apply to your teeth. Opposed to in chair whitening, once you have these trays you can repeat the process as you require. All you will have to buy is the whitening solution.
Contact our helpful team to discuss tooth whitening options for you.
Veneers
Veneers are a popular cosmetic treatment that can completely change your smile by altering both the colour and shape of your teeth. This is achieved through custom crafted, thin shells which are permanently bonded to the front of your teeth. Generally they are only applied to the front teeth or those visible when you smile and are commonly used to treat discoloured, chipped, stained, gapped or unsatisfying teeth.
If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your teeth, or want a different smile, contact Newtown Dental Care to arrange a consultation.
Dental Implants
Dental Implants are a safe and easy way to replace missing teeth. If you have any missing teeth or dentures, dental implants can restore functionality, durability, strength and a natural appearance.
Not to be confused with a crown, a dental implant is an artificial root to which a new tooth is fixed. Predominantly made of titanium as it is safe and biocompatible implants are a permanent solution that your bone will grow and bond with. Once this bonding process is complete a restorative tooth (known as a crown) is affixed to give your smile a seamless, strong and functional fix.
At Newtown Dental Care we believe dental implants are a safe, sound and effective solution to missing teeth. Contact our experienced staff for any more information or to arrange a consultation.
Bridges & Crowns
Dental crowns and bridges are restoration techniques which are bonded to dental implants or existing teeth. They are expertly crafted prosthetic pieces to replace missing or damaged teeth. Restoring strength, functionality and a natural appearance, crowns and bridges have superseded dentures and provide a natural solution to tooth loss.
A crown is either a full restoration (new tooth) which is affixed to a dental implant or a small cap, designed to fit over a damaged tooth. A bridge is attached to either side of a crown/s to secure their position and is a commonly used technique to replace one or many missing teeth. At Newtown Dental Care we offer a range of crown and bridge options to meet your individual requirements. Call our friendly team to discuss crowns and bridges or schedule an appointment.
